These delightful stone built farm cottages look out upon some of the finest scenery in the Lake District, including Great Dodd, and beyond that, Helvellyn itself. There is the peaceful atmosphere of St Johns-in-the-Vale nearby with the challenging walking country of High Rigg, and rising up behind the properties, there are the lower slopes of Blencathra which can be reached from the doorstep. Set on a working sheep farm, just off the Penrith to Keswick Road (A66) and is an excellent central touring base for the Lake District. All the properties are tastefully furnished and decorated and are maintained to a very good standard. The children can enjoying playing on the train, Puffing Billy and a play area. The opportunities available from Doddick Farm are numerous and varied. The traditional village of Threlkeld is 1 mile and has two excellent pubs serving food. The popular and bustling market town of Keswick is 6 miles and has a large selection of shops, tourist attractions, pubs and restaurants. Lakeside walks at Thirlmere and boating trips on Derwent water are a must. Travelling along a pretty country lane through the Vale will bring you to the prehistoric site of Castlerigg Stone Circle which stands in a magnificent setting, then continue along to join the road out of Keswick heading towards Grasemere, 10 miles, Ambleside, 14 miles, Windermere, 18 miles. Ullswater, with its steamboat trips is stunningly beautiful and is just 10 miles away. Every road provides a scenic drive and every walk will reward you with spectacular views and vistas. Shop 6 miles, pub 1 mile.
