There are wonderful cliff walks to pretty quiet coves such as Ropehaven Cliff, Blackhead and Porthpen. The fishing village of Mevagissey, with its narrow streets and bustling harbour is just 2 miles whilst the market town of St Austell, the centre of the china-clay industry, and the port of Charlestown dating back to the 18th century with its shipwreck centre is approximately 8 miles. There are many activities in the surrounding area including fishing, sailing, golf and riding, not forgetting the famous Eden Project, Lost Gardens of Heligan and several National Trust properties.
