Nearby is historic Bury St Edmunds with its cathedral, abbey ruins, many churches, museum, abbey garden, theatre, excellent shopping and eating houses. Visit the Theatre Royal, one of the oldest, smallest theatres in the country. Bury St Edmunds lays claim to the smallest pub in Britain, and has a Brewery museum and visitor centre. The picturesque villages of Lavenham and Long Melford, with their numerous antique shops and eating houses, are all close by. For the racing enthusiast, Newmarket, home of horse racing, is only a short distance away. A good range of local pubs and restaurants are abundant in this part of Suffolk.
