The area has lush green countryside which rises from sandy coves and mud flat estuaries of the Solway Firth, to high green hills and hidden lochs. On the edge of the Galloway Forest, there are many walks, as well as cycling, horse riding and golf. Ayr with its amenities and entertainment is 45 minutes away, with Stranraer providing day trips to Ireland also close by. Culzean Country Park is well worth a visit, and for sight-seeing Wigtownshire is within 50 minutes. Shop, pub and restaurant 100 yards.
