Many historic houses in the area, including Stourhead (NT), with its famous example of early 18th-century English landscaping. An hours drive leads to Bath, Cheddar, Salisbury and Weymouth. Bath, with its Roman baths and Georgian architecture, is a real treat. The caves and gorge at Cheddar are most impressive. Weymouth is a fine resort for fishing, sailing, swimming and sunbathing. Shop and pub within a mile and many other pubs serving food and offering outdoor eating/children's play areas, nearby, why not try East Knoyle for starters.
