Loughrigg Cottage

Rydal, near Ambleside,United Kingdom

This detached, character filled Grade ll listed house occupies an idyllic position on the lower slopes of Loughrigg Fell. Views from the bay windows over the garden take in the River Rothay, the fields and the wonderful fells in the distance. Set on the old road from Rydal to Ambleside (access only), it is well placed for walkers and those wishing to explore the Lake District by car. In 1906, the United States president Woodrow Wilson and his family, stayed for the summer at Loughrigg Cottage. The house has easy access from the car and with a twin bedroom, shower and toilet on the ground floor, is well suited to those who are not as mobile as they once were. Nearby, Dove Cottage in Grasmere, once the home of Wordsworth, has been preserved much as it was and his burial place can be seen in the village churchyard. 'The World of Beatrix Potter' exhibition can be found at Bowness. Visit the resort of Ambleside with its friendly bars and tea shops for a well deserved rest. Whether you yearn to walk along the Kirkstone Pass, amble around some of England's most famous lakes or simply relax, Loughrigg Cottage is perfectly situated to help you enjoy it all.
