These delightful holiday cottages are set in the peaceful conservation village of Puncknowle, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and are in the same courtyard area as the owners' homes. The Jurassic Coast is just 1½ miles away for good coastal walks along with use of 8 acres of grounds and footpaths for walking and games. The `chocolate-box' village of Burton Bradstock is 3 miles with a good small beach at the cove. Abbotsbury lies east along the coast with its famous swannery and sub-tropical garden. Further east is the Victorian seaside town of Weymouth, with Blue Flag beach, sea fishing, windsurfing and Sealife Centre. Monkey World and the Tank museum near Wool are great places for a family day out. To the west is the market town of Bridport which was Thomas Hardy's `Port Bredy' and has lots of little shops, cafes and a selection of pubs, along with the twice weekly market where local products can be sampled as featured in the popular television programme River Cottage. The picturesque harbours of West Bay are a great place for fishing and watching the world go by. Lyme Regis is an attractive seaside resort which enjoys a dramatic setting with high cliffs and landslips on either side of the town. Its handsome harbour, known as The Cobb, was built in the 18th-century, and found fame as the film setting for John Fowles' French Lieutenant's Woman. Both Lyme Regis and Charmouth are renowned for their prehistoric fossils, revealed in the falling cliffs, and many are displayed in the local museum and are on sale in the local fossil shops.
