 Hurst
Spring Gardens, Nr Bath.,United Kingdom
This impressive detached house dates back to the 17th century and is conveniently located, set in 1/3acre of grounds. It has been extensively restored and now offers a fine mix of old charm and contemporary presentation. Well-equipped and spacious, it provides an excellent family base. Among the many places of interest nearby is the beautiful Georgian city of Bath with its superb architecture, historic interest, shopping and restaurants. The main attraction is the steaming jade-green waters of the Roman Baths, but also worth a visit is the Pump Room, fashionable in the 18th-century, and where teas and lunches are now served. Also within easy reach is Longleat, probably best known for its safari park, and Longleat House contains many historic treasures, important paintings and exquisite French furniture. Other attractions include a hedge maze, pets corner, an adventure castle, narrow-gauge railway and safari boats. Nearby Stourhead House (NT) has stunning gardens, which include a lake, woodland, domed temples, stone bridges, grottoes and statues. Wells is the smallest city in the country, and owes its celebrity entirely to its cathedral. The majestic building teems with hundreds of figures of saints and kings from the 13th century, and the interior is a supreme example of early English Gothic. Cheddar Gorge, Glastonbury and Stonehenge are all close by and well worth a visit. Pub 200yards.
