Fleur de Cerise is a small terrace of very spacious stone built cottages converted from an historic barn. Situated off a quiet country lane in 3 acres it offers plenty of space and has a swimming pool with two large decked terraces and sun-beds for relaxing. For the more energetic there is a well-equipped indoor games room with table football, 8 foot projector screen TV, pool table and table tennis. Each of the cottages has been thoughtfully designed, decorated, furnished and equipped to a good standard. All cottages have central heating or underfloor heating and each has its own deck-style patio with barbecue. The English owners live on-site and are pleased to offer advice and assistance on any aspect of your holiday. The historic village of Hautefort with its beautiful château and gardens, open to the public, is just a few minutes drive away. Here you can also find a supermarket, bank with bureau de change, restaurants, small shops and Wednesday market. This is an ideal location for visiting all the popular areas of the Dordogne. You can explore the area on foot via the many way-marked footpaths or by canoe along the pretty local rivers. There are numerous cycle paths in the area and the quiet country lanes make cycling a real pleasure. There are weekly markets in almost all local towns selling home-grown produce for you to sample with a bottle of local wine. This area of the Dordogne is especially famous for its pre-historic caves with cave paintings dating back 17000 years; many of them are open to the public. The most famous of these are the Lascaux caves at Montignac. The whole area is dotted about with magnificent châteaux, many of which are open to the public. For garden enthusiasts there are the famous French gardens at Eyrignac and Marqueyssac. The cathedral city of Périgueux is within an hours drive and has quaint cobbled streets with a large open market every Wednesday. The medieval market town of Sarlat has a wealth of architectural gems. If you prefer to relax at home then Fleur de Cerise provides a great base for simply soaking up the atmosphere in this delightful corner of France.
