Set in a hamlet amid rolling countryside, these two delightful cottages have been restored and carefully furnished by their English owner. This is an ideal spot to relax whilst being a perfect base to explore and enjoy the region's many attractions including Coutances. This historical cathedral town is only 10km away, with its shops, restaurants and traditional Thursday French market where you will find many of the region's local produce. A few miles further west are the beautiful sandy beaches of Agon-Coutainville and moving slightly south is the bustling seaside town of Granville with its fascinating history of piracy. The D-Day landing beaches are only an hour's drive away - for the most part, these are innocuous beaches backed by gentle dunes, but every coastal town has its own war museum to bring home the reality of war. For a day trip, head to historic Bayeux, with its perfectly preserved medieval ensemble, magnificent cathedral and world-famous tapestry. Several museums can be visited here, as well as the understated and touching British War Cemetery. Another interesting place to visit is the Mont St. Michel, whose abbey dates back to the 8th century. Since the 11th century, new buildings have been grafted onto the island to produce a fortified hotch-potch of Romanesque and Gothic buildings clambering to the pinnacle of the graceful church.
