To the east is the Alsace valley with half-timbered villages and the picturesque towns of Colmar, Ribeauvillé and Kayersberg. Not far away is the German city of Freiburg with breweries, shops and museums as well as the Europa Park which is well worth a visit, as is the Ecomuseum with its displays of the daily life of yesteryear.
