Half an hours drive takes you to the coast at St. Gilles-Croix-de-Vie, and there is an excellent choice of beaches from there down towards Olonne-sur-Mer. The picturesque lake at Apremont (only 8km away) or the island of Noirmoutiers, reached by the famous causeway, make excellent days out.
