Converted from former farm buildings, they have been carefully renovated, keeping the charm and features of earlier times. Each has its own terrace, and they share a superb heated swimming pool with apartment guests in the main farmhouse. This area of reclaimed land, criss-crossed with canals, has uninterrupted views for miles, giving an impressive sensation of light and space. The lively village of Angles is close by, with its attractive market square, shops and amenities, and at Le Port de Moricq there is an excellent restaurant, renowned for its traditional cuisine. The nearby coast from La Tranche-sur-Mer to Jard-sur-Mer features long, sandy beaches, natural dunes and shady pine forests, making it ideal for family holidays. With river and sea fishing, sailing, tennis and riding all available nearby, there is plenty for everyone to enjoy. Away from the delights of the seaside, there are the floral gardens at St. Cyr, fascinating dolmens and standing stones to discover, and a museum of prehistory at St. Hilaire-en-Foret. Further afield is the bustling resort of Les Sables d'Olonne, while La Rochelle and the picturesque Ile de Ré makes an excellent day trip.
