There is fishing and canoeing on the Charente, windsurfing on the Lake of Champagne, beach swimming at Lake Lavaud, tennis and riding available locally. Excellent golf courses within an hour's drive away. Soak up the rich history and visit the castle at Gençay, the abbey and museum at Charroux and the wealth of Romanesque churches nearby. Civray is less than 3km away, boasting a magnificent church, and a variety of shops, restaurants, cafés and bars, to be enjoyed in traditional French style. Many other delightful and reasonably priced restaurants are an easy drive away. For those wishing to barbecue, or prepare their own cuisine, there is a large supermarket nearby. A daily boulangerie van visits and a supply of eggs from the 'resident' chickens! The 'Monkey Valley' is 15 minutes away and Poitiers, with the fantastic 'Futuroscope' just a 40 minute drive. To the south are Angoulême and Confolens, offering summer music festivals. Cognac and Limoges, and the coastal towns of La Rochelle and Royan are all within easy reach.
