Stone-built, this stunning, 18th-century converted barn has been beautifully furnished throughout and offers spacious, detached holiday accommodation. Retaining many original features - including exposed timber roof trusses, vaulted ceilings, and natural stone - it also benefits from modern design details such as underfloor heating, and plasma TVs. A large central wood-burning stove divides the dining-room from the spacious living room - which is complemented by contemporary lighting, leather sofas, and original modern art. A perfect property for the larger family gathering, holiday or celebration, Orchard House boasts a wonderful kitchen (ideal for the task of cooking for a large party) which has a large range cooker, granite worktops and American fridge/freezer. The four spacious bedrooms (all en-suite) have plasma TVs and are sumptuously furnished with designer fabrics, each one themed: French-style, chunky rustic Mexican-style, rich mahogany, and one with contemporary with nickel bedstead. There are also two twin-bedded rooms (each with plasma TV). Thoughtful added details to pamper guests include complimentary toiletries (even down to handmade soaps), and large fluffy towels - all of which give a stay that special feel. To the front of Orchard House is an unoverlooked garden and patio, with uninterrupted country views across the fields and valley. The long stone patio area extends the entire length of the barn, with huge teak patio table and chairs seating 12, with large parasol and barbecue at the kitchen end. Trout from the well-stocked large pond along the drive can even be caught fresh and baked in the open air on the barbecue! At the other end of the patio are 8 large comfortable teak sunloungers/steamer chairs, and from here, the patio leads to a large lawned garden, overlooking the valley below, where there is a children's climbing frame and swings. The owners' surrounding farmland is mainly laid to pasture, and a 25-minute walk across the fields leads to a little known sandy beach - Portledge beach - which is a wonderful sun trap and well off the tourist map, making it usually very quiet even on the busiest summer day.
