Located a mere three miles from the old Victorian seaside town of Sidmouth, on the World Heritage coastline, stands this adjoining thatched cottage dating back to 1614. Former coaching inn, the property boasts its own enclosed garden. A spacious cottage, it will easily accommodate eight visitors and makes a perfect place to explore East Devon, from Lyme Regis to Exeter and Exmouth. Sidmouth itself has lovely clean beaches and is home to what some people say is the best folk festival in the country, with artists from around the world appearing in many local venues. Lyme Regis makes for an alternative day out and children of all ages will enjoy hunting for fossils in the high cliffs that overlook the town itself. Exmouth has a lovely two mile stretch of beach and was once home to the wives of Nelson and Byron respectively, whilst just four miles east of Exmouth lies the genteel town of Budleigh Salterton, with its white-washed and thatched cottages which attracted such visitors as Noel Coward and P.G. Woodhouse. Superb scenic walking can be found along the coastal paths, as well as fishing and golf. For family days out, there are many to choose from with Crealy Adventure Park, The Donkey Sanctuary, Pecorama as well as many National Trust properties to be enjoyed. The historic, cathedral city of Exeter is within an easy drive and well worth the visit, with its Catacombs, Maritime Museum, shops and restaurants. Slightly further afield lies the rugged wilderness and beauty of Dartmoor National Park, where both experienced and novice walkers can enjoy the stunning scenery on guided walks. Pubs 200 yards.
