Croyde is an unspoilt seaside village with large stretches of sandy beach and dunes, fishermen's cottages, village shops, and a good selection of pubs and restaurants specialising in locally caught seafood dishes. This is a fabulous location that has something for everyone. Its Blue Flag beach is one of the best around for swimming, surfing, fishing or simply lying in the sun - whilst walkers and cyclists will enjoy the famous Tarka Trail, which runs close by. Indeed, the village of Georgeham which is just a few miles away, is famous for its association with Henry Williamson, author of Tarka the Otter and Salar the Salmon. The hut where he wrote these is still there and is well worth a visit. Beautiful Exmoor is also just a short drive where visitors may be lucky enough to see the ancient breed of Exmoor pony or the majestic red deer that roam here. Golf available locally. Nearby Braunton offers day to day town amenities or Barnstaple (10 miles) has a wider selection of shopping, historic market, indoor pool, leisure centre, bowling and family attractions.
