"Cottages for a relaxing holiday...set within a nature lover's paradise...."

In its idyllic setting, on the edge of Exmoor National Park, Deer's Leap offers a most tranquil holiday. Guests can relax beside the sparkling stream, fish in the carp lake, sit in the hot tub whilst gazing at the lake, watch the resident buzzards or wander the extensive lovingly tended gardens. From the grounds there are beautiful views of mid Devon and Dartmoor, which can be seen in the distance some 40 miles away. For the more active there is a hard tennis court, pool table, children's play area and indoor heated swimming-pool (available from Xmas 2008). Dating back to the 15th century, the cottages once had their own chapel; the timbers were removed and now form the arch in the beautiful West Anstey church just ½ mile away. The cottages are all tastefully decorated, well equipped and offer everything needed for a family holiday, a romantic get away, a celebration, or some well-earned time out. Exmoor is one of the country's finest National Parks. Its terrain is greatly varied: heather clad hillsides, steep wooded valleys and meandering rivers, marshland, pastures and a spectacular coastline. The moor is home to a wealth of wildlife, including the ancient breed of Exmoor pony, red deer, foxes and badgers. Among the flora to be found are heath spotted orchid, sundew, and wall pennywort. There is an abundance of picturesque walks for both casual and serious walkers. Other local activities include horse riding, fishing and golf. Regular tours of the moor leave from Dulverton, an ideal way to explore the moor. Deer's Leap is within easy reach of many delightful haunts - the ancient causeway Tarr steps, Anstey Common, Landacre Bridge and Dunkery Beacon to name but a few. Several charming villages are also nearby including Dulverton, Winsford, Withypool and Exford. A trip to the Heritage coast will be rewarded by the sight of some of the highest sea cliffs in England. There are regular boat trips from most of the harbour villages. Local beaches only 13 miles. No visit to Exmoor would be complete without an excursion to the Doone Valley, made famous by R D Blackmore's novel Lorna Doone. Take a walk around the lake early morning/late evening and enjoy the abundance of wildlife on the doorstep. As well as the buzzards, there are the kingfishers, kestrels and the owls. Bird-watchers will be in their element with such varieties in abundance. National Trust properties are all around the area - with so many, visitors will have to come back time and time again to see them all. Pubs 6 miles.
