Situated within walking distance of Westward Ho! and its beach, this impressive Victorian house, complete with turret-sundeck, stands in its own south-facing, fully enclosed secluded garden, offering a superb base for a family holiday. Approached by double gates leading into a gravelled driveway, the house has been carefully preserved with its period features intact, including cornices, period feature fireplaces, a frieze and a beautiful ornately carved staircase rising from the imposing entrance hall. The stairway continues up to a turret-sundeck, from where there are breathtaking 360-degree views, with the north Devon coastline, Hartland, Clovelly and the estuary to one side, and the town and countryside as far as Dartmoor on the other. The perfectly secluded sundeck (accessed via second floor bedroom) is ideal for sunbathing or watching the sun go down (children must be supervised). All rooms are very spacious and elegant, with the main living room and dining-room overlooking the gardens, and all the bedrooms enjoy their own en-suite facilities. There is so much to see and do in the immediate vicinity, with the popular surfing beach and family amusements at Westward Ho!, and golf, fishing, sailing and horse riding all available nearby. Bideford with its shops and restaurants is only a mile away, and the pretty fishing village of Appledore, picturesque Clovelly and Instow with fine seafood restaurants are all on the doorstep. There are many family attractions to visit, as well as the RHS Rosemoor Gardens and Dartington Crystal Works, making this a splendid holiday base for all ages.
