Set in the Lake District National Park and tucked away at the end of a private drive together with other cottages, this substantial farmhouse (circa 1800), has an open aspect and enjoys stunning views over magnificent scenery amounting to 13 acres of pasture and woodland. Guests are certain to have a peaceful and relaxing stay in this secluded hideaway, which boasts many interesting features, not least an oak panelled entrance hall with stone flagged hall. Great walking can be enjoyed direct from the doorstep and the location of the property makes touring the stunning Lake District easy. The bustling market town of Kendal, with its wealth of shops, restaurants and museums lies 3 miles distant, whilst the popular and beautiful town of Windermere is a mere 5 miles. Boat trips can be taken on the lake itself aboard one of the many leisure cruisers and makes a perfect way to spend an afternoon. Grasmere - with its literary links to William Wordswoth is well worth the visit. Dove Cottage, the home to Wordswoth and his wife - where he wrote most of his famous poetry, is open to the public as well as a museum which houses many paintings, manuscripts and bric-a-brac once belonging to the Wordsworths, Southey, Coleridge and Thomas de Quincey. For keen walkers a network of Lake District paths connect the lakes themselves, which tracks the broken knife-edge ridges of the fells and mountains or weaves easier courses around the flanks and onto the tops. For children The World of Beatrix Potter and the Windermere Steamboat Museum are sure to keep them entertained and amused. Pub ½ mile.
