The Old Hall, a splendid Grade II listed Victorian country house is the principal part of Crackenthorpe Hall, and is completely self contained. The owners live discreetly in a separate wing, with `The Old Manor House', another holiday property, in the other wing . This substantial historic house is set in 10 acres of shared grounds with its own garden area and private fishing on the River Eden (at cost). Inside, a wealth of period features include fine corniced ceilings and a grand oak staircase, which combine with antique furniture and a billiard table to create an authentic period atmosphere - the perfect surroundings for get-togethers and celebrations with family, friends or colleagues, to enjoy a genuine country house experience. Appleby (2 miles) has an ancient castle, good shops, inns and restaurants, an 18-hole golf course and swimming-pool. Many other activities are easily reached. Ullswater, Keswick and Penrith, all within 30-minutes' drive.
