Milfield Hill, Nr Wooler, Northumberland.,United Kingdom
These spacious, light and airy properties are set between the Cheviot Hills and the magnificent Northumberland Coast, centrally placed in a delightful rural location. Milfield Hill Steading stands in an elevated position about ½ mile from the village of Milfield. The Steading was once part of a large country estate that dates back to the 1750s; it was owned by the Grey family until 1967 and was the birthplace of the suffragette Josephine Butler. Milfield Hill Steading serves as an excellent base from which to discover the area's rich history. There are the medieval ruins of Etal and Dunstanburgh and the gradeur of Bamburgh and Alnwick Castles all within easy driving distance. In addition, there is Holy Island with its fairytale Lindisfarne Castle. The stunning expanse of heritage coastline offers tremendous variety, with its long, uncrowded sandy beaches, attractive fishing villages and little seaside resorts. Virtually from the doorstep, the Cheviot's `rounded hills' are traversed by the Pennine Way and offer a challenging terrain, popular with walkers and bird-watchers. The three cottages are next door to one another and form part of a recent conversion and have been refurbished to E.T.C. `4 and 5 Star' standard. The cottages are a delightful example of traditional Northumbrian design; they have been tastefully restored keeping the character of old stone, while adding all of the comforts of a modern home. Village shop and pub/restaurant about ½ mile.
Level entrance through side door to first floor: Large open-plan living room with multi-fuel stove and well-equipped kitchen/dining area. Ground floor: Large double bedroom (5ft bed). Twin-bedded room. Bathroom/W.C. with over-bath shower.
