There are many fine National Trust properties within an easy drive - including Chastleton House (one of England's finest and most complete Jacobean houses), Snowshill Manor, and Upton House (with its wonderful collection of Old Master paintings including works by Hogarth, Stubbs, El Greco and Canaletto). For horticultural enthusiasts, Kiftsgate Court, Hidcote Manor, Batsford Arboretum and Sudeley Castle are not to be missed. Stow-on-the-Wold has a market square, old inns and galleries, while the wildlife park at Burford is worth a visit, as well as the towns of Kingham and Shipton-under-Wychwood. The Cotswold's `capital', Broadway, is only 12 miles away. There is also excellent walking to be had and a stroll around the quiet mystery of the Rollright Stones should be on everyone's itinery. Fishing, golf and shopping are available for more relaxing enjoyment in the area. The World Heritage city of Stratford (18 miles), Oxford and Cheltenham (25 miles), and Blenheim Palace (30 miles) are ideal day trips.
