A spacious detached farmhouse, situated on a working farm in a truly peaceful, secluded location with stunning views over woodland and open countryside. This property makes for an ideal base from which to explore this varied area with forest walks from the door and the nearest beach five miles away. A twenty mile stretch from Newton Stewart to New Galloway, known as the Queen's Way, cuts through the southern periphery of Galloway Forest Park - a landscape of glassy lochs, wooded hills and bare, rounded peaks. This area is perfect for mountain biking, fishing and golf. A few miles further leads to Clatteringshaws Loch, a reservoir surrounded by pine forest, with a fourteen-mile footpath running right round. This runs past Bruce's Stone - a huge boulder where Robert the Bruce is thought to have rested after victory over the English. Wildlife is abundant throughout the area with red and roe deer, a diverse number of wild birds and even golden eagles. Wigtown - Scotland's book town - can be explored, with its numerous book shops, crafts and cafes, or the Isle of Whithorn with its picturesque harbour where visitors can enjoy fishing trips, seal and sea bird watching, or visit the historic priory. A visit to Bladnoch distillery is always a good choice. Close by, Newton Stewart with its shops, cinema and swimming pool makes for an enjoyable outing. Pubs 5 miles.
