Lower Inchlumpie is situated in a superb, peaceful location in beautiful Strathrusdale, amidst unspoilt highland scenery and is set in almost two acres of natural gardens and grounds beside the spectacular Alness river. Accessed by a rough track, it stands detached, and provides spacious and well-equipped accommodation on two levels. The owners are real cooking enthusiasts and the large, modern farmhouse kitchen is superbly equipped and boasts an exceptional selection of appliances, including a pasta and bread maker. They are also keen on board games and have provided an amazing selection of unusual and riveting games for their guests. The surrounding area is totally unspoilt and consequently a haven for wildlife. Pine martens, deer, eagles, buzzards and otters are all seen close by. Fishing for salmon, trout and sea trout is available through day or weekly permit tickets. There are a number of excellent golf courses in the area, including the championship course at Dornoch, which also has an award-winning sandy beach. Trips can be made to the fascinating Victorian spa town of Strathpeffer or visits to the pretty coastal village along the Black Isle, where dolphins and seals are regularly spotted along the shoreline. Both are just a short drive away. Excellent walking and cycling opportunities abound in the area. The highland capital of Inverness is just ½ hour by car. Other local places of interest include the Falls of Shin (where salmon can be seen leaping close at hand), a number of spectacular castles (including Dunrobin, Carbisdale and Cawdor), and the beautiful and unspoilt coastline of Sutherland and Caithness, with its sweeping white sands. Pubs and restaurants 7 miles.
