The Abbaye de la Ferté, dating from 1113, was one of the most important Cistercian abbeys of the time. The magnificent abbey palace, with its splendid 18th-century interior decoration, remains intact and guided tours are available. Situated within the grounds of the Abbaye, this water mill has totally independent access and a good degree of privacy. The well equipped 'moulin' interior is light and the proximity of the mill stream makes it a tranquil spot and, although well fenced, young children will require supervision. The private sitting-out area consists of a large courtyard, but guests are welcome to cross the gated bridge across the stream to enjoy the 25 acres of grounds which surround the Abbaye.
