Finished to a high standard and boasting their own enclosed gardens, this is an ideal location from which to tour this spectacular corner of Cornwall. A short drive will lead to Marazion, Cornwall's oldest charter and silk trading town. In the bay rising out of the sea and topped by its magnificent castle is St. Michael's Mount, (NT)which can be reached on foot at low tide, otherwise by ferry and is well worth a visit. A variety of shops and restaurants are available to visit nearby, whilst good sailing, wind-surfing and the nearby cliff top walks, which provide excellent bird watching on the Marshes, can be enjoyed locally. Praa Sands (3 miles) offers an excellent golf course and good surfing with a surfing school. The sandy beach of Perranuthnoe is approximatley two miles whilst for the more adventurous, a short walk leads to the quiet of Stackhouse Cove (access can be difficult for children and the elderly). Penzance is home to numerous museums including the Maritime Museum, which holds a good collection of seafaring articles, including an array of items salvaged from local wrecks and a full size section of an 18th-century man o' war. The Penlee House Gallery and Museum holds the biggest collection of the works of the Newlyn School. Newlyn itself, Cornwall's biggest fishing port, lies immediately south of Penzance and is home to Newlyn's Art Gallery, which concentrates on contemporary art giving an insight into how the tradition has evolved. National Trust properties and gardens in the area include The Levent Steam Engine, Trengwainton Garden, St Michael's Mount, Glendurgan Garden, Cornish Mines and Engines and Trelissick Garden.
