Once the old town chapel, this property forms one of three large properties spread over four floors, and enjoys wonderful views from its Gothic living room window over the Fowey Estuary. A good central location from which to enjoy the many facilities available in this popular area of Cornwall, the busy fishing town of Fowey has many narrow streets made up of a variety of gift, antique and curio shops twisting and turning towards the sea. The coastal path leads to Gribbin Head and on towards Menabilly, used as the fictional setting for Daphne Du Maurier's Rebecca. Sailing is popular here, and fishing trips can be arranged form the nearby harbour. There is a great selection of restaurants and pubs to choose from as well. The `picture-postcard' village of Polruan lies on the opposite river bank and is linked by a regular ferry service. A short drive leads to the magnificent Eden Project and the equally spectacular Lost gardens of Heligan - a time capsule of glasshouses, romantic structures and landscapes. The seaside town of Looe is easily accessible and is famous for its `bathing machines', the first ones of which were wheeled out in Looe. Now it is more popular for its shark-fishing and the beautiful sandy beaches. Close to Looe and easily accessible is the pretty village of Polperro. A 5-10 minute walk from the heart of the village alongside the River Pol, leads to the tiny harbour. Little has changed in Polperro since its hey day of smuggling and pilchard fishing and makes for a peaceful and alternative day out.
