 Round Barn

The Round Barn is a real find because of its location. Prior to 1965, it was a working farm/barn. This particular barn was used to grind corn - a donkey used to trot around part of the ground floor. Adjoining the owner's home, it has been sympathetically and lovingly restored, with parts of the original mechanism still remaining. Believed to date back in part to the 12th century, the house even has mention in the Doomsday Book. Set in an AONB, The Round Barn is quiet and secluded, ideal for groups of family and friends. Its beautiful interior and peaceful garden make it the perfect holiday destination. The Gannel Estuary, 100 yards from Round Barn, was formerly a thriving port and is now a favourite haunt of walkers, horse riders and naturalists and provides an excellent location for windsurfing. Just under ½ mile away is the historical village of Crantock with its thatched cottages, country pubs, tea garden, post office, village store, many interesting walks and beach. The round orchard in the village centre may have been the site of an ancient Celtic chapel. Large areas of the parish of Crantock are owned by the NT, including the family-friendly beach with its fine golden sand, beach car park and a delightful cove known as Polly Joke. Newquay (3 miles) is famed for its surf lifestyle. The property is perfectly located to provide an ideal base for touring the dramatic north Cornish coastline and beyond. Padstow (home to Rick Stein's Food Empire) is 15 miles away and is a fine example of a working fishing port. Truro with its cathedral, theatre, cinema, museum, shops, pubs, cafes and river trips is 12 miles and 40 minutes away is the world famous Eden Project, Lost Gardens Heligan and many attractions including go-cart track and mini steam railway. Jamie Oliver's `15' restaurant is just 5 miles. Two pubs in village.
