The village also offers a very pretty harbour with a small fishing fleet, a wildlife reserve and a good example of a vitrified fort, on a small tidal island off the headland. This is a wonderful area for forest and coastal walks, swimming, water sports, and picnics on pristine beaches. The ferry for the Isle of Arran is just a half-hour drive, with ferries to the islands of Islay, Colonsay and Jura within 40 minutes.
