The wonders of the Cuillin mountain range can be explored - where there is excellent hiking and climbing and makes a fantastic day out for keen walkers - and boat trips can be taken to see otters, dolphins and whales. For whiskey lovers, then a visit to the Talisker Distillery is a must. Organised tours of the distillery can be taken, with the ultimate finale being the tasting of the local firewater. For a true taste of Gaelic culture, the Skye and Lochalsh Festival which takes place over two weeks in mid-July is an event not to be missed.
