Situated at the edge of the village of Le Porge, shopping facilities as well as a restaurant can be found in the centre, which is within walking distance.
Only 8 km to the west lies the Atlantic Ocean with its endless sandy beaches. From Le Porge, it is only a short drive to the bay of Arcachon with its many pleasant towns and villages. Andernos-les-Bains is great for shopping. Arcachon is proud of its 19th century villas and Cap-Ferret has its old, typical oyster cabins. From the lighthouse of Cap-Ferret, which can be visited, you have the most beautiful view over the bay.
The bay can also be discovered by boat and some companies even propose day excursions to the Arguin sand bank, situated just across the Pilat Dune, Europes highest sand dune. Amateurs of good wine will certainly not want to miss a visit to one of the famous wine châteaux in the Médoc, producing wines known all over the world.
