Perpignan, foremost a Catalan city, nestles nearby between mountain and sea. Narbonne is also a pleasant town to wander around, with many historical remains. Explore the flora and fauna around the Bages and Sigean lagoons. Other possibilities for day excursions include the Canal du Midi, lazing on the endless miles of golden, sandy beaches, admiring the castles of Cathar, or even a trip over the Spanish border.
