It provides an excellent base to explore the French Riviera, especially Cannes - the star of the Cote D'Azur, with its palm tree-lined beaches of La Croisette, where cinema stars from around the world gather each year for the annual film festival.
Nice is a close second, with its Promenade des Anglais and of the course the immaculate principality of Monaco and also Saint Tropez. However, the real beauty of the Riviera is the authenticity of the perfume capital of Grasse, the delightful villages of Saint Paul, Vence, Eze and Roquebrune Cap Martin.
