There are several activities locally including angling, sailing, windsurfing, golf and pitch and putt. The area is a mecca for food lovers, with many seafood bars and restaurants to sample.

The village is only minutes away from Ballycotton and the seaside resort of Garryvoe, both with long sandy beaches. Midleton, Youghal and West Waterford are equally nearby with Cork city only 25 minutes. Barnabrow is an Anglicisation of the Irish Name 'Bar na Brugla' which translate as top of the fairy fort. Local lore has it that there was a fairy fort on the lands of the estate which are associated with good luck of the Irish. Shops and pub 1.5 miles, restaurant 1.5 miles.
