All along the coast from Wicklow to Wexford are miles and miles of sandy beaches, and given that this area enjoys the highest sunshine rate in Ireland, it is a great family holiday destination. The beach in Kilmuckridge is known as the Golden Mile because of the soft golden sands and dunes and is situated just off the coast road between the seaside villages of Blackwater (4 miles) and Kilmuckridge (3 miles). These holiday homes are well-equipped and tastefully furnished and each has a patio and large lawn ideal for relaxing or dining al fresco. Discover how the Celtic, Norman and Viking settlers left their mark on the countryside. The John F Kennedy Arboretum in New Ross contains a vast collection of trees and shrubs, including rhododendrons, dwarf conifers, hedges and forest plots. It covers 252 hectares, with panoramic views, picnic areas, maze, play area, lake, tea room/shop (seasonal), miniature railway (seasonal) and visitor centre with audio-visual aids.Golf, fishing, water sports and horse riding are available locally, and for walkers the Wexford Coastal Path is a great way of exploring this scenic area. Both Gorey and Wexford have a regular train service to Dublin. A visit to Ireland's capital makes a really memorable day trip as there is a host of historic sites, museums and monuments plus of course fabulous shops and boutiques. Kilmuckridge Holiday Village makes a good base for just relaxing amidst glorious countryside or for touring throughout the sunny south east and Wicklow, 'The Garden of Ireland '.
