It is superbly located for touring the Lake District, with its craggy fells and peaceful lakes alive with the beauty that inspired the poet William Wordsworth. For a day's outing, take a trip on the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway which will take you on a scenic 7 mile journey to Eskdale, with its spectacular scenery.
