This delightful cottage was the birthplace in 1766 of John Dalton, founder of the atomic theory. Extremely quiet and peaceful, it is very close to the boundary of the Lake District National Park with the lakes of Loweswater, Crummock and Buttermere, within 10 miles by country lanes.
The market town of Cockermouth is 3 miles.
