Description of House In Villefranche Du Perig.Situated in one of the oldest Bastide towns in the Perigord (founded in 1261), this spacious terrace town house, simply furnished with a partially covered terrace of 60m² shared with the lovely owner, is ideally placed as a base for visiting this particularly attractive corner of the Dordogne. This house in in one of the most scenic part of the region south of Monpazier (20km) above the River Lemance. Villefranche'du-Perigord is a quiet medieval town built around its central square, a traditional open market hall (weekly) surrounded by honey-coloured stone arcades and houses dating back to the 13th century. The 14th century church was constructed by the same architect as the Sacré Cæur of Montmartre, Paris. The town is renowned for its sweet chesnut production and the array of products made locally, a small exhibition is open for visitors, along with its now famous Cepes (mushroom) Market. With all amenities and restaurants open throughout the year on your doorstep, you can choose if the car is to remain unused. Throughout summer, there is a guided visit of the town organised with the Tourist Office. The beautiful villages of Besse (6km), Puy L'Evêque (20km), Belves (22km) are well worth a visit along with the Château de Bonaguil (16km), Fumel (22kms, supermarket, bank) or for a day trip to Sarlat (43km) or Montignac ' Lascaux (70km), Domme (32km) and Bergerac (64 km).
