La Grange Des Pres

8, Coulange, Villeloin Coulange, Indre-et-Loire,France

Situated in a peaceful hamlet in the south Loire valley 3.5 kms from Montresor and 19 kms from the wonderful mediavael town of Loches, these two beautifully renovated and tastefully furnished 18th. century gites combine the charm of oak beams, stone walls and original Tuffaut stone fireplaces - equipped with wood-burning stoves - with the comfort and practicality afforded by modern fully equipped kitchens and shower-rooms.

Each has two bedrooms; La Chouette sleeps up to four and l'Hibou two adults and up to three children.

In each gite the large living-dining room has a fully fitted corner kitchen with fridge with small freezer compartiment, washing machine, dishwasher, induction hob and combination oven/microwave/grill. An iron, ironing board and airer/dryer are supplied. A freezer is available and a dryer in intemperate weather.

The shower-room has a low-level toilet, a modern thermostatically controlled fixed shower with large shower head, a modern basin set on a hardwood shelf unit, an electric towel rail and non-slip floor tiles.

Each gite has a private garden area furnished with oak table and chairs and a barbeque.

The luxury heated swimming pool has a large paved seating area, comfortable hardwood loungers and deck chairs. It has a lockable security cover conforming to European standards. There is also a small sand pit for the very young.

Various outdoor ball games, including boules, are available and for lazy days or evenings we provide a selection of reading material, some board games and a 19" flat television screen with an integral DVD with a slot-in loader and a USB/VGA interface. There is a small selection of DVDs.

A cot, high chair and stair safety gate can be supplied if necesssary.

We offer a First Shop Service and, should you wish to hire bikes, will be happy to reserve them for you and have them delivered if need be prior to your arrival.

Our prices include all bed, bathroom and kitchen linen, electricity, cleaning and a Welcome Pack of fresh local produce - including a bottle of wine!

For activities in the UNESCO World Heritage site of The Loire Valley ... where to start?

The choice of historic buildings to visit, from the medieaval to the 18th. century, is almost overwhelming. Of the châteaux, Chambord, Chenonceaux and Azay le Rideau are highly recommended but you needn't travel far to go back to the 12th. century Plantagenets for several of these historic sites can be found on our doorstep, among them a Château at Montrésor and a priory and chapel commissioned by Henry II.

Nearby towns of interest include the fortified town of Loches with it's royal château and food market and Montrichard, a gem of a small town on the Cher. The historic towns of Blois, Amboise, Tours and Chinon all with their châteaux, markets, shopping and restaurants, while slightly further away, are still within easy driving distance while that of Saumur is a little further.

For ramblers, marked footpaths follow our river valleys, link old villages, and crisscross the huge oak forests of Loches and of St. Aignan with their deer and wild boar; you can 'get on your bike' and expore the local villages or 'saddle up' for a ride along the bridle paths; there is golf, coarse fishing and watersports, quad bike and microlight hire in the immediate area and even hot air ballooning available over the chateaux.

There are also, of course, the wines of the Loire valley - Vouvray, Montlouis, Saumur Champigny, Sancerre, Chinon - to name but a few. There are 19 Appellations Controllées in all! You can follow the Route des Vins, visit the villages and vinyards and the caves for tasting - and buying perhaps.

In addition ... for children the nearby Zoo de Beauval is one of the best privately owned zoos in Europe, there is the freshwater Aquarium de Val de Loire and the Parc des Mini-Chateaux near Amboise ... while for adults villages in the area hold brocantes and antiques markets on Sundays and holidays from March until October.

A holiday here can be as active ... or as relaxing as you wish it to be ... no matter your age or interests.
