Description of Morton Mains CottageMorton Mains Cottage is a beautiful traditional sandstone 19th century cottage in an isolated and secluded location. It lies up a very lightly used road, and the nearest inhabited house is over half a mile away.
The garden is bordered by a stream and pine trees on one side, with breathtaking views of the Lowther Hills on the other side.
The cottage comprises of an entrance porch, two double bedrooms and one twin room, a spacious dining and living room with open fire, bathroom with deep cast iron freestanding bath, kitchen, and larder. One of the double bedrooms is accessed through the twin room, but it has its own ensuite toilet, shower and sink.
Morton Loch is a 10 minute walk from the cottage. Fishing is available on the loch, which surrounds the beautiful ruined 13th Century Morton Castle.
