Farnborough, nr. Banbury, Oxfordshire
Description of Lavender CottageLavender Cottage is a delightful Victorian cottage in a quintessential English village on the Oxfordshire/Warwickshire border. It makes an ideal base for guests visiting Stratford, Warwick, Oxford and the North Cotswolds. The village includes National Trust Farnborough Hall and a great gastro-pub The Inn at Farnborough.
The cottage comprises a large sitting room, kitchen/dining room and small sun room downstairs. There is an original bead oven in the working fireplace - perfect for log fires and toasting marshmallows in the winter. The sitting room looks out over thatched cottages. The kitchen is decorated in traditional country style with a stone flag floor, Belfast sink, dresser and oak chopping block. You can watch the cows come home in the field beyond our garden from the kitchen sink!
There are three bedrooms upstairs (a king, a twin and a single). All are decorated in country style and have beams. The bathroom boasts a roll-top bath, a large travertine-lined separate shower and under floor heating to keep you cosy in the cooler months.
There is a private garden to the rear overlooking fields with lawn, box-edged flower beds and a pretty arbour. At the front of the house is a driveway with parking for one and a lawn. You can enjoy sitting on our bench watching village life go by and maybe even see the local donkey being taken for a walk.
There are lovely walks in the village including down to Farnborough Hall lake which is a popular beauty spot for picnics.
