Description of The DairyLocated on a 400 acre working farm, in a quiet hamlet in rural Cornwall. Markwell is approximately 7 miles from the beaches of Portwinkle, Downderry and Seaton, 12 miles from the fishing port of Looe.
The cottages have been tastefully converted from 18th century barns and retain many of the original features.
The Dairy, which sleeps 6, is one of four cottages on the site. This cottage has 3 bedrooms, a double & a bunk bedroom with a family bathroom and a twin with ensuite shower room/wc. All bedrooms have views over the gardens, farm land and the River Tiddy. The entrance is into a large living room with well equipped kitchen, comfy sofas, dining table & chairs along with tv & dvd player. This cottage is all on a single level except a single step into the twin bedroom.
Markwell Farm is ideally placed for visiting both Devon & Cornwall, Bodmin moor & Dartmoor.The rugged south Cornwall coast, with the fishing villages of Looe & Polperro are a short drive away. Fowey & Megavissey a little further.The maritime city of Plymouth is only 20 minutes drive with it's National Marine Aquarium, museums and boat trips from the historic Mayflower steps.The national Trust properties of Cothele, Anthony House & Lanhydrock are well worth a visit. The Eden project and Lost gardens of heligan are about 40 minutes away by car.
Rame Peninsula(the forgotten corner of Cornwall) is close by with the picturesque villages of Kingsand and Cawsand along with the quiet beaches of Whitsand Bay.From here it is possible to connect to the South West Coastpath.
The cottages are set in open plan gardens with parking near the cottages.There is patio furniture for each cottage and bbq's for guests use.
There is a shared washing machine near the cottages.Electricity, heating (Oct - May, other times £20/week), bed linen and wifi are included. A travel cot and high chair is usually available by prior arrangement.Our water is from a natural spring on the farm.
All our cottages are non-smoking. Dogs are allowed in some cottages (not July / August) by prior arrangement at additional cost.

Getting HereFrom Exeter take the A38 south. Follow this past Plymouth, crossing The Tamar river into Cornwall.Continue on the A38 past Saltash. Just before the blue footbridge turn left into Landrake village. Left again at the Buller's Arms pub and follow this lane for 1.5 miles until you reach markwell farm and cottages.
