Local InformationHoundapitt Farm is superbly placed in the Cornish countryside and yet is only three quarters of a mile from Sandymouth beach which is monitored and controlled by the National Trust. A large portion of the surrounding area of Houndapitt is even officially designated an area of outstanding natural beauty. We also get our fair share of wildlife here at Houndapitt, from swallows to our resident barn owl in the summer months.The location of Houndapitt in the north cornwall countryside situates it nearby many fantastic attractions that will keep you entertained during your holiday including: Beaches - We offer a superb location to enjoy some of the best beaches in the country, with some ofthe best Surfing too. We are only 1 mile from Sandymouth Bay (a renowned 'secret' surf spot) and 4 miles from the sandy beaches of Bude. Fishing - We have our very own, on site course fishing lakes and if that's not enough, there are various other excellent places to fish in the region so don't forget to bring your rod! Walking - We have many seaside and countryside walks nearby and we are only 1 mile from the South West Coastal path Cycling - This is yet another enjoyable way to explore the local area with many fantastic cycle trails nearby. (All distances and times are approximations) Getting HereWe are 4 miles from Bude in North Cornwall. It is easy to find us from the A39 'Atlantic Highway'. Take the turning signposted to Sandyouth Bay and Stibb. Continue along this road until you have passed though the hamlet of Stibb. Follow the road signposted to Sandymouth Bay - Houndapit cottages is on the right hand side and is signposted at the top of the lane. To see our location displayed on google maps click here.When taking the the M5 motorway, leave at junction 27 (Tiverton exit) follow the signs to Barnstaple, then continue towards Bideford and Bude. 4 miles before Bude you will reach the village of Kilkhampton, carry on through the village for ½ a mile (descending a hill) turn Right at the signpost to Sandymouth. Continue through the small hamlet of Stibb, after another ½ mile turn left again to Sandymouth Beach. We are just down this road on the Right. Alternatively, you can also leave the M5 at Exeter and then take the A30 towards Okehampton. Past Okehampton follow the slip road signposted to Bude and then follow signs for the A3072. Then turn right at the Stratton A39 T-junction before turning left a further 100 metes down the road. Follow this road past the crossroads before turning left at the T-junction in the hamlet of Stibb. After another ½ mile turn left again to Sandymouth Beach. We are just down this road on the Right. |
