Description of Greetham Retreat Holidays

If your looking for a relaxing holiday in luxurious and stylish pet friendly accommodation, with breathtaking scenery and accessibility along with privacy, then Greetham Retreat, situated deep in the heart of the Lincolnshire Wolds will delight far beyond your expectations.

Greetham Retreat is centrally positioned in beautiful open countryside with fantastic unspoilt views for miles, although only minutes away from the bustling market towns of Horncastle and Louth, (which are superb for antique hunting and their varied selection of independent local shops), the East Coast and City of Lincoln are also within easy reach.

Our three cottages which are purpose built and designed just for couples are:

Rose's Rest:
This cottage is on the ground floor and sleeps 2 in a king sized bed with an en suite shower room. It has high ceilings with original beams and is comfortable, warm and cosy. A Small dog is permitted in this cottage

Laura's Loft:
This is a very cosy and private first floor apartment for 2 people. It has its own entrance door and stairs leading to the accommodation. There is an open plan living room and a double bedroom with en suite and luxury whirlpool spa bath. We do not allow dogs in this apartment.

Wendy's Wing:
Wendy's Wing is dog friendly ground floor cottage that sleeps 2 people. The bedroom has a super king sized bed which can become two single beds if required. The bathroom is a luxury stylish wet room and may be suitable for accompanied guests with mobility restrictions.

In all we have five luxury self catering cottages at Greetham Retreat, our other two cottages are Katie's Corner that sleeps 6 in 3 bedrooms and Maggie's Mews that can sleep 4 in 2 bedrooms.

All our cottages are comfortable and welcoming - each has its own individual charm, they are well furnished with leather sofas, solid oak tables, flat-screen TV's and DVD players; they have full oil fired central heating with double glazing making them warm and cosy for any season. All bedrooms have stylish en suite bath or shower rooms, some with self-indulgent whirlpool spa baths or wet-room.

Preparing meals is easy in the excellently equipped, practical and modern kitchens which all have a ceramic hob and electric fan oven, microwave, dishwasher and fridge/freezer. A washing machine and tumble drier is also available.

  • The cottages are all set around a large courtyard with tables and chairs for guest use. This area is a real suntrap with a south west aspect.
  • The cottages are all located within very private 4 acre grounds containing woodland, wild-flower meadows, natural hedgerows and wildlife ponds, all of which are freely available for your exploration along the mown pathsplus seating areas which look out on the fantastic panoramic views across the rolling hills of tghe Lincolnshire Wolds This is the perfect location for that relaxing getaway.

Local Information

Greetham Retreat is only minutes away from the bustling market towns of Horncastle and Louth, which are superb for antique hunting and their varied selection of independent local shops.

Also with reasonable travelling distance is the East Coast seaside resorts of Skegness, Sutton-on-Sea and Mablethorpe all with large safe sandy beaches. The historic City of Lincoln is a must; with its fantastic cathedral, heritage and cobbled streets.

Nearby you will find plenty to do as the following attractions are all within easy an travelling distance: Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre, Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, Tattershall Castle, Gunby Hall, Cadwell Park, Market Rasen Racecourse, Golf Courses, Nature Reserves, Kinema in the Woods plus activities such as birdwatching, walking, cycling and fishing.

Accessibility Details

Wendy's Wing is considered suitable for wheelchair users. It has level access with wider doors throughout and a wetroom. we can offer on request, a toilet frame, raised toilet seat, grab handles and shower stool if required. Please feel free to discuss youir specific requirements with the owners.
However, both Laura's Loft and Rose's Rest are not considered suitable for wheelchair users.


Holidays for 7 nights range in price from £300 to £550 per week depending on the time of year.

Short Breaks are available all year for 3 or 4 nights. Prices for these weekend (3 nights) or midweek (4 nights) short breaks range from £200 to £450.


We accept arrivals on any day of the week. Our minimum stay in most cottages is 3 nights

Booking Conditions

25% deposit required at time of booking. The remaining balance is due 6 weeks prior to your holiday

Getting Here

How to find us by road:-

- Make your way to the A158 near Horncastle in Lincolnshire.

- Leave Horncastle towards Skegness on the A158, at first junction (immediately after 50mph speed limit signs) turn left off the A158, in the village of High Toynton.

- OR if travelling in the opposite direction on the A158, turn right in the village of High Toynton opposite the church.

- Continue along this road (Tetford Road) for about 2 miles until you reach a crossroads junction (Greetham village to the right).

- At these crossroads go straight across and continue for a further 300 metres.

- Greetham Retreat is the 3rd property on your left about 100 metres past a left hand bend

Public Transport:-

The nearest railway stations are at Lincoln ans Skegness.

A bus service travels frequently between Lincolns and Skegness and return which always calls at Horncastle on route. This bus srevice is the Interconect No 6.

Greetham Retreat is also serviced by public transport with the Call Connect bus service (Route 6C) which is normally available from our front entrance. This is a semi flexible service that responds to customer requests, the 6C travels from Horncastle to Louth and return, 4 times per day in each direction.
