Description of Tremodrett House Barn

Tremodrett House Barn is a stunning contemporary barn conversion, graded 5 stars according to Visit England standards. Situated on a small private estate with adjacent barns, it is surrounded by fields and open countryside. The leafy hamlet is only one mile from the A30 main road through Cornwall it is an ideal base for travelling around Cornwall and exploring the north and south coasts.
The open-plan living accommodation is flooded with light and located on the first floor to take advantage of the vaulted roof space and beams. A Juliet balcony opens onto the courtyard. Laura Ashley sofas are complimented by a stylish oak dining table and chairs. The kitchen is equipped to a high standard with professional pans and Sophie Conran china.
Downstairs are three bedrooms ( one small one serving as a dressing room). The main bedroom opens onto the courtyard and has a beautiful contemporary oak four poster bed. The 20' second bedroom ( twin) is a dramatic room with sloping roof reaching into the eaves of the barn. Both are equipped with Egyptian cotton white bed linen and proper pillows! The Barn is our own holiday home and equipped to a high standard not just as a holiday let and we hope our guests will appreciate the little extra touches.
Outside there are two garden areas - a private garden to the front with raised flower beds receives sun throughout the day and is decorated with palms and exotics plants which thrive in Cornwall's sunny clime. A dining table and seating for 4 is provided together with a kettle BBQ. To the rear of the barn is a communal courtyard with miller's wheel , decorated with mature hydrangeas and a bistro table and two chairs - you can pop out from the king-size bedroom for your morning coffee.
The whole estate has been finished to a high standard and slate walkways and planting beds abound. In the fields we caught sight of roe deer in our first week and there is a resident woodpecker.

Free Wi -fi is provided and a Welcome tray on arrival.

  • There is a large patio garden along the front of the property with raised flower bed ( not yet on photo) , pots and tender plants which thrive in Cornwall's sunny clime. There is a slate patio area with dining table and chairs for 4 together with the essential sun umbrella! We also provide a kettle BBQ.
  • To the rear is a courtyard (shared with two barns) with bistro table and chairs for two furnished with mature hydrangeas. French windows open out from the main bedroom so you can pop out for a quiet morning coffee.


Local Information

The Eden Project is just 5 miles away with the Lost Gardens of Heligan near the fishing village of Mevagissey about 12 miles distance,
Charlestown, used in many film sets, including Poldark,is only 6 miles away.
Fowey and Padstow are about 15 miles from the barn.
Port Isaac ( set for Doc Martin) and Tintagel are both within 30 - 40 minutes drive.
Lanhydrock (National Trust), one of the most important houses in the county, is 5 miles away.
Bodmin has the infamous jail to explore and there is a steam railway.
There is a wealth of things to do and see within 30 minutes drive including Watergate Bay, Fistral and many other beaches.
Lands End, the open-air Minack theatre, St Michael's Mount and gardens such as Trebah are 1- 1hr. 30 minutes away with St. Ives an hour's drive away.

Swimming,spa,gym,exercise classes,Segway are available at Waterside country club which also has bar and restaurant facilities alongside their lake -3 miles.
The Lanivet Inn (3miles) is popular with locals and tourists alike and very reasonably priced.

Victoria Services has a range of fast-food outlets and a Childrens' climbing zone. It also has a Spar store within the petrol station.
Roche has a range of stores, including a medium-sized Co-Op and a good butchers. Bodmin has a full range of supermarkets - Sainsbury, Morrisons, Asda. The nearest Waitrose is in Truro.


Accessibility Details

The property has a living area on the first floor, accessed by a dog-leg staircase. Bedrooms and bathroom are downstairs.
There is a flight of steps down from the car-park and one step up to the entrance. The main entrance is a short walk around the side of our neighbour's barn but our house can also be accessed from the courtyard which is nearer the car park,after key collection.

Notes

7 day minimum stays are in place for the busy school holiday periods, whilst we welcome short breaks at other times - min. 3 nights. Short breaks start from £115 per night.

Changeover

Our changeover days are usually Saturdays, but we can be more flexible outside school holidays.

Booking Conditions

We ask for a booking deposit of £150, with the balance due two months before arrival. In addition, there is a damage deposit of £150, which is fully returnable for bookings for a week or more.

Getting Here

The Barn is 1.5 miles from the A30 Victoria Services which is 5 miles west of Bodmin.
Being centrally located, access to both north and south coasts is easy.
Padstow, Truro and Fowey are about half an hour away.
Tremodrett is a tranquil hamlet. Roche and Lanivet are the nearest small town and village.
