Description of Chandlers Country HouseThis impressive detached manor house is the perfect destination for large family gatherings, private house parties, intimate weddings and other celebrations. Having started life as a girl’s school, laterally it has run as a luxury 4* hotel. Having undergone even more refurbishment this country house on the Isle of Bute occupies a prime position on the water's edge, with unsurpassed views across the Clyde, along the Ayrshire coast and beyond. As the most easily accessible of all the Scottish Islands, a vacation on the Isle of Bute will not disappoint. The island has been named as one of National Geographic’s 'Top10' global adventure trips. The West Island Way Walk starts in a wee village close by and is just one of the breathtaking walks available on the island. There are three golf courses on the island, cycle tracks, horse riding, sailing, kayaking, swimming pools, a cinema and an abundance of wildlife to see. A popular destination for fishing, the inland lochs are popular with anglers for coarse and game fishing. Loch Fad offers anglers an opportunity to fish for rainbow trout and is only 3 mile from the house, for anyone with an interest in sea angling you’ll be spoilt for choice. Within walking distance is Mount Stuart House, a Gothic Revival country house and the ancestral home of the Marquesses of Bute. It was designed by Sir Robert Rowand Anderson for the 3rd Marquess of Bute in the late 1870’s after a fire destroyed the earlier house by Alexander McGill in 1877. Open to the public with its beautiful gardens to explore, the house has become a popular location for wealthy celebrity weddings including Stella McCartney and JB Gill from the band JLS. Having had a great reputation as a luxury hotel, Chandlers Country House has brought all of the elegance and charm that the most discerning of guest could want and developed this Self catering country house for you to enjoy. The house itself has a cozy snug area with comfy sofas and a bar which can be stocked or un-stocked to suit you requirements. A Grand Piano is the focus of the music lounge, accompanied by several guitars, amps, music stands and more comfy seating. The living room has ample seating, flat screen TV, selection of games, a small library and sound bar for iPods. The dining room hosts an impressive dining table able to seat at least 20, furnished again with additional soft seating and music sound bar. With a premises license, weddings can be held here. We can even help or simply advise on any catering requirements. The house is a twenty minute walk away from the main seaside town of Rothesay, which is populated with cafes, restaurants, public houses and an array of independent shops.
