Description of Apple Tree Cottage

This dreamy self catering holiday cottage sits on the edge of woodland and sleeps up to four people.

The thatched property is in the little village of East Grimstead, Wiltshire and situated six miles (8km) from the historic cathedral city of Salisbury.

Comfortable and well equipped, it is surrounded by beautiful countryside and a few minutes walk from the entrance to Bentley Wood: a 1500-acre bluebell wood which has been designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) where deer and butterflies abound.

Available for short breaks or weekly holidays, this property is the perfect retreat for anyone who wishes to relax and unwind and take advantage of the many sightseeing opportunities in the area.

Children are welcome and we are a dog friendly property too. We can accommodate well behaved dog or two little ones free if charge.

Local Information

East Grimstead no longer has a pub but The Hook and Glove in Farley is just 5 minutes drive away or a 30 minute walk through fields and woods. There are several local shops in the nearby villages and a 24 hour Tesco is within 10 minutes drive. A huge Waitrose is 15 minutes drive away.

The medieval cathedral city of Salisbury has a good selection of shops, pubs and restaurants as well as an Arts Centre, a Playhouse and an Odeon Cinema. It is most famous for its ornate 13th century cathedral which which is home to a Magna Carta dated 1215 AD.

9 miles north of Salisbury is Stonehenge: possibly the world's most famous prehistoric monument. Other sightseeing opportunities include Old Sarum; Woodhenge; Amesbury; Avebury; Wilton House; Mottisfont and Mompesson National Trust Houses; Wardour Castle.

For family days out you are spoilt for choice. The New Forest National Park is on our doorstep as is Paultons Park, home of 'Peppa Pig World'. Less than an hour's drive away is Winchester; Longleat Safari and Adventure Park; Moors Valley Country Park; Marlow Zoo; Beaulieu Motor Museum; Dorset beaches; Portsmouth Historic Dockyard.

With regret the property is not suitable for wheelchair users.

Please note that the bathroom and WC are downstairs.

This is a very old building with low beams throughout.


Short breaks (minimum 3 nights) are available but not during high summer season.


Changeover day for weekly lets is Saturday. Check in is from 3pm and departure time is by 10am.
